Social Security payment dates for 2027
Find your column, then mark your dates on a calendar. The dates follow the Social Security Administration's published rules and the federal holiday calendar. Always confirm against the official schedule at ssa.gov.
Which column is mine?
- Birthday on the 1st–10th: 2nd Wednesday. 11th–20th: 3rd Wednesday. 21st–31st: 4th Wednesday.
- The 3rd of the month if you applied before May 1997, get both Social Security and SSI, live outside the U.S., or your state pays your Medicare premium.
- SSI (Supplemental Security Income) is paid on the 1st.
- When a date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the payment arrives the business day before.

Early payments are next month's money
When the 1st or 3rd lands on a weekend or holiday, the payment comes early, sometimes in the previous month. The January 2027 payment for people paid on the 1st or the 3rd arrives on Thursday, December 31, 2026. SSI's May and August 2027 payments arrive on April 30 and July 30. It can look like two payments in one month and none in the next. Set the early one aside for the month it belongs to.
Five-week stretches in 2027
Most months, the next Wednesday deposit comes four weeks after the last. Four times in 2027 it comes after five weeks, and those weeks still have five weeks of groceries and the usual bills:
- 2nd Wednesday: Wed, Mar 10 → Wed, Apr 14; Wed, Jun 9 → Wed, Jul 14; Wed, Sep 8 → Wed, Oct 13; Wed, Dec 8 → Wed, Jan 12
- 3rd Wednesday: Wed, Mar 17 → Wed, Apr 21; Wed, Jun 16 → Wed, Jul 21; Wed, Sep 15 → Wed, Oct 20; Wed, Dec 15 → Wed, Jan 19
- 4th Wednesday: Wed, Mar 24 → Wed, Apr 28; Wed, Jun 23 → Wed, Jul 28; Wed, Sep 22 → Wed, Oct 27; Wed, Dec 22 → Wed, Jan 26
If you often feel short just before your deposit, these stretches are usually why. Moving a bill's due date to just after your deposit, even in the months it comes latest, fixes it for good.
